In Bangladesh, water hyacinth is commonly found in the wetland areas of Narsingdi, Sylhet, and Gazipur, where it grows in rivers, lakes, and canals. Although invasive, it is repurposed by local communities to make eco-friendly products like baskets, mats, and furniture. Water hyacinth harvesting provides sustainable livelihood opportunities, transforming a once-problematic plant into a valuable resource in these regions.
